What to Expect From Florida Rod.Co
When you order a custom fishing rod, you’re not just buying another piece of equipment, you’re investing in something built specifically for the way you fish.
At Florida Rod.Co, every rod is handcrafted one at a time. We offer both Custom to order fishing rods and pre built fishing rods designed by Florida Rod.Co's experienced builders . From the first conversation to the day your rod arrives at your door, you’ll be involved throughout the entire process.
If you’ve never ordered a custom rod before, here’s exactly what you can expect.
Step 1: Let’s Talk Fishing
Every great custom rod starts with a conversation.
Before a single part is ordered, we will ask you questions about how you fish.
Some of the things we’ll discuss include:
- What species you’re targeting
- Where you fish (flats, bridges, mangroves, offshore, etc.)
- Artificial lures or live bait
- Your preferred reel
- Desired rod length
- Power and action
- Handle material and grip style
- Thread colors and cosmetic preferences
- Any personal touches like initials or custom colors
The more I learn about your fishing style, the better I can build a rod that truly fits you.
My goal isn’t just to build a beautiful rod—it’s to build one that performs exactly the way you expect every time you’re on the water.
Step 2: Finalizing Your Build
Once we’ve discussed your rod, we will put together a recommendation using components that best fit your needs.
This includes selecting the appropriate blank, guide system, handle configuration, reel seat, thread colors, trim accents, and any custom options you’ve requested.
If you have questions during this stage, we will gladly explain why I recommend certain components. I want you to understand what you’re getting and why it’s the best choice for your style of fishing.
No surprises.
No pressure.
Just honest recommendations based on experience.
Step 3: Your Deposit Secures Your Build
Once we’ve finalized your design and you’re ready to move forward, a 50% non-refundable deposit is required before materials are ordered and construction begins.
Because every rod is built specifically for each customer, many of the components are ordered specifically for your build. The deposit allows us to purchase those materials and reserve time in the build schedule.
The remaining balance, along with shipping if applicable, is due once your rod is completed.
Step 4: You’re Part of the Build Process
One thing that separates Florida Rod.Co from many custom builders is communication.
We don’t disappear for several weeks and surprise you with the finished product.
Throughout the build, we send photo updates so you can see your rod coming together from start to finish.
More importantly, we ask for your approval before permanent steps are completed.
For example, once we receive your blank and temporarily fit the grips, we send photos to make sure you’re happy with the layout before anything is permanently installed.
When the decorative thread work is complete, you’ll receive photos before epoxy is applied. This gives you the opportunity to make sure you’re completely satisfied with the colors and overall appearance before it’s locked in forever.
If we have a question or think there may be a better option during the build, we will reach out.
This rod is being built for you, and we want you to love every detail.
Step 5: Attention to Every Detail
Building a custom rod isn’t about rushing to the finish line.
Every guide is carefully aligned.
Every thread wrap is inspected.
Every epoxy coat is applied with patience to create a clean, durable finish.
We take pride in building rods that not only perform exceptionally on the water but also look just as good years down the road.
When The Florida Rod.Co name is attached to a rod, we want it to reflect the quality and craftsmanship Florida Rod.Co stands for.
Step 6: Final Inspection & Delivery
Before your rod ever leaves our shop, it goes through one final inspection.
the builder carefully check guide alignment, finish quality, thread work, components, and overall craftsmanship to make sure everything meets Florida Rod.Co standards.
Once your rod passes inspection, I’ll send you final photos.
After the remaining balance has been paid, your rod will be carefully packaged and shipped so it arrives safely and ready to fish.
Warranty & Customer Support
Our relationship with customers doesn’t end once the rod is delivered.
